August 25, 2004: . 4 tucks added to hem, gathered waistband, and natural white silk dupioni belt. I will make a boned belt later when I can get some short boning. August 17: Bodice almost entirely assembled. Second pic is a large close up. August 16: All lace insertion and embroidery finished. August 15: Bodice almost done, save for the embroidery on the bodice and construction. August 2nd: Sleeve lace insertion finished. July 31: Lace insertion placement. I basted these down and have begun sewing the first step. July 30: Completed undergown. I swear my hem is not crooked. I was taking that picture while standing on a chair. :) I still have a few threads to clip and hooks to sew on the back. July 28: Received my package this morning. Here's what I have! 7 yards Pink batiste, some silk ribbon, insertion lace, lace of the hem, and beading. Yah! July 25: Sadly I wasted an entire month waiting for fabric from a company that was out of stock. I quickly did a search and found a sale at Heirlooms by Suzanna, a company with excellent service and super fast shipping. As luck would have it, they offered a 7 yard piece of pink Swiss batiste for only 37.00! I wanted white, but I'll take pink for that price- it retails at over 18.00 a yard. I got the batiste as well as some lace and other things. I ordered it Saturday, and it shipped out today. I am making this dress as part of a class, the pattern is S&S 1914 tea gown. |
