'The Importance of Correct Corseting'
|
Here is a small collection of other/older projects. Sewing February 29, 2004: I actually made this shirt this summer, but I did the buttons and button holes today. I made the pattern myself. Feedsack material is not good for something like a button down shirt. I got this Alice in Wonderland 1930's reproduction print as a 17th birthday present, in September 2001. I made it into a pleated skirt, and with the extra fabric, made a little girls dress. I wanted to appliqué a heart on the bodice but didn't have enough left over. This print is so adorable. Now that I know more about sewing I wish I wouldn't have pleated the skirt, as it wastes a lot of a cute print. I'll probably remake this someday, into quilt blocks or something. The print was purchased at retrodepotfabrics but I think it's sold out.
I made this A line white satin suit from a 1963 pattern in April of '03. This was my first try at making a collar or a jacket of any sort, and it took several tries before the A lines matched with the dress. The buttons are big white Bakelite buttons from the 60's, and the fabric is polyester white satin.
I made this skirt while practicing my embroidery skills- I just drew the 'amoeba' flowers on with pencil and embroidered over them with the split stitch. The skirt is made and lined with of a scrap of muslin, and closes in the back with a zipper. Check out the second flower from the left, it's shaped like Texas. |
