Quick Winter Hat

A very nice, very warm winter hat.  This pattern takes less then 2 hours to finish and is worked up on 2 needles.  The decreasing is done on the knit stitches.  Purl the opposite side as usual.

Gauge

2 stitches= 1 inch

Supplies:

#17 needles (or size to obtain gauge)

About 60 yards super chunky wool (I used Rowan's Big Wool in Sherbet Lime for the hat you see above.)

Instructions

Cast on 48 stitches.

Knit one, purl one for 4 rows.

Make 14 more rows in stockinette stitch.

Row 15: Knit 10 stitches, then knit 2 stitches together as if one stitch.  Repeat across the row.

Row 16:  Knit 9, knit 2 together, repeat across row.

Row 17: Knit 4, knit 2 together, repeat across row.

Row 18: Knit 2, knit 2 together, repeat across row.

Row 19: Knit 1, knit 2 together, repeat across row.

Instead of binding off, thread your yarn through the open stitches on the top of the hat.  Pull together and tie.  Join hat up sides.  You're finished!
