Regency Spencer
December 1, 2003: I made this Spencer of ice pink wool crepe (the second set of photos show the real color better) with an off white frog closure. The lining is a gutted old bridesmaids dress- I was surprised how well the matched! I cut this out about 6 months before I actually sewed it- I was a newer sewer then and so intimidated by the funky back. In reality, it's quite easy- the entire thing, hand finishing and all, only took a few hours. I highly recommend this pattern, and plan on making a long, coat style version. Regency Pelisse December 1st, 2003: This pelisse is made from polyester 'silk essence' and closes, so far, with a safety pin. ;) This pelisse was made in record time to add on to a final project on regency fashion. It still needs to be finished up and hemmed- I'll probably add a smaller version of the off white frog as a closure to this as well. I suggest making this out of an a-line pattern and not squares of fabric like I used- see how much it 'enhances' my hips? Both Spencer and pelisse made from the Regency Spencer pattern at Sense & Sensibility. |
