Charity Quilting Project

September 11, 2004: I finished this over labor day.  I found pink cotton that matched almost exactly!

Charity Quilting Project

Yet another fun charity project, this one with quilting.  We will be making a quilt to go to needy children around the world, via the Wrap Them in Love Foundation.  The rules:

  • Deadline is August 10, 2003.
  • Make as many 12 inch quilt squares as you like from this pattern: Simple Pinwheel.  Measure carefully.  I can't pick up your stitches and add a border!
  • Prewash fabric before starting.  If you are using reds, treat with vinegar/water until water runs clear.
  • Use 100% cotton or 50/50 cotton/poly fabric.  Do not use knits.
  • If you have lightweight wools or other strong firm fabrics, that's fine too!
  • Please avoid anything with writing or words on it.
  • Do not use fabric with any sort of overt cultural or seasonal theme (Easter bunnies, cartoon characters, patriotic themes, etc)
  • I can't accept anything with a drinking, gambling. explosive, etc theme.
  • Try to keep fabric child friendly.
  • Don't buy any fabric.  Use up your scraps!
  • Common sense: don't use fabric that frays easily, is see through, is stained, smells weird, etc etc etc you all know this stuff.  :)

Can't knit, sew, or crochet, but still want to help?  Shipping the last batch of knitted goods to San Francisco (the AFA drop off point) cost me 65.00.  Any contributions for shipping would be greatly appreciated.

Email me for more information!

August 11: Miriam sent a huge box full of donations for Iraq, including these lovely quilt squares.  Yah!  The blueberry prints are my favorite.

August 7: Look at the gorgeous quilt top Adeline made for me!  She even pressed it and serged all the ends...I am very, very impressed.
